Just looking at this collage makes me happy. I feel as though it is expressive of who I am, not just as a person but, as a designer. I believe that our homes are expressions of who we are... layered, complex. More than just what you see at the surface.
Our homes should have value and not just aesthetic value but emotional value. My dining room table has been used by the past four generations of my family handed down from mother to daughter. We've each put our own twist on the set though by reupholstering the chairs. It was such a gift to be able to peel back each of the three previous layers to see what the women before me thought was a good idea when they were around my same age. While most people don't have access to things like this, filling your home with objects you love will have the same effect.
That table, along with many other objects in my own home, brings me comfort. Which is what a home is... your comfort, your safe haven; whether it be a jar filled with fresh flowers, inspiring words on the wall, or a cozy sofa just begging to be snuggled into.
